Session Overview:
The integral cement sheath is a key for long-term zonal isolation. Incomplete cement coverage, cracked sheath and micro-annulus could result in inter-zonal communication, loss of hydrocarbon production or sustained casing pressures. Loss of zonal isolation, especially when leaks are vented to surface, pose safety and environmental risks, as well as the loss of valuable hydrocarbons. The mechanically resilient cement systems have been developed to cope up with the gradually degraded hydraulic seal in the post slurry-placement phases. Combined with good well clean-up and cementing practices, this technology significantly reduces the risk of loss of hydraulic isolation during production and after abandonment. The technology has been applied in several locations including the HTHP wells which are subjected to mechanical and thermal stresses over the life of well.

Speaker Profile:
Rameez Anwar is a mechanical engineering graduate and comes with eight years of experience in the energy industry on different well construction projects. He holds master’s in engineering management and currently working as Cementing Specialist with Sprint Oil and Gas Services. He is responsible for technical, commercial and operational support for the company’s cementing and pumping services. He authored/co-authored few publications in the field of HTHP cementing and also remained technical resource speaker for ADIPEC, EGYPS and ATCE.
Rameez is a professional member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He is also an active member of SPE at International and local level and currently leading the communications team for SPE Northern Emirates Section.
