Heriot-Watt University in Dubai

The Society of Petroleum Engineers student chapter, SPE HWUDC ( Heriot Watt University’s Dubai campus) was established in 2005 and has since been evolving. Starting with less than a dozen members, the SPE HWUDC student chapter has grown to be the largest student organization at the University. Today, it has almost a hundred members from more than twenty different nationalities.

The Chapter aims on creating the professional and technical bridge for the students with the Oil & Gas Industry by providing various technical experts, facilitating students’ participation in different SPE conferences, organizing field trips, career talks, community services events, as well as organizing social events in collaboration with the chapters’ sponsors from the Oil & Gas Industry.

Recently, the Chapter won the Golden Standard Chapter of the 2011/2012 Academic Year in the Middle East  award for its excellence performance.

The SPE student chapter at HWUDC is supported by two Gold Sponsors (Schlumberger & Baker Hughes Inteq) as well as a Silver sponsor (Weatherford Oil Field Services).
